Verified fasting dates and local parana guidance are published together.

A recurring observance

Ekadashi fasting dates

Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day, traditionally marked by a chosen form of fasting and prayer.

Choose a gentle form of restraint that is safe for your body, such as skipping one distraction, and use the time for reading or quiet prayer.

There are two Ekadashis in most lunar months. We list dates only after their tradition, source, and parana rule have been verified.

What is Ekadashi?

Ekadashi means the eleventh lunar day. It occurs twice in most lunar months and is associated especially with Vishnu. Fasting traditions range from a full fast to avoiding particular grains, while some people observe through simplicity rather than food restriction. There is no single practice that fits every body or tradition. What matters is a deliberate pause: consuming less, speaking carefully, and making room for attention. The next morning’s parana, or breaking of the fast, is bounded here by local sunrise and the stored end of Dvadashi so the practical instruction is useful outside India.

How to fast safely

Select the fasting type that your health and tradition support. Drink water when appropriate, avoid turning the observance into self-punishment, and break the fast within the displayed local parana window.
