Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need a visa to join a spiritual tour in India?
- Most international travelers need a visa to enter India. We recommend applying for an e-Visa online at least 4 weeks before travel. Our team provides a support letter if needed for your visa application. Most nationalities (US, UK, EU, Australia, Canada) are eligible for the India e-Visa.
- Is it safe for solo travelers — especially women?
- Yes. All Smukti tours include a dedicated English-speaking guide who accompanies the group at every step. Our groups are small (max 12 people), we use pre-vetted accommodation throughout, and we monitor safety at every destination. Many of our past travelers have been solo women from the US, UK, and Australia.
- How large are the tour groups?
- Groups are capped at 12 travelers. Smaller groups mean more personal access at sacred sites, quieter temple experiences, and a more intimate journey with your guide and fellow seekers.
- What is included in the tour price?
- All Smukti tours include accommodation, all meals during the itinerary, entrance fees, in-destination transport, airport transfers at the start and end, and your dedicated English-speaking guide. International flights are not included.
- What is the cancellation policy?
- Cancellations made 60+ days before departure receive a full refund minus a small admin fee. 30–59 days: 50% refund. Under 30 days: no refund. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation. Contact us at namaste@smukti.com for any special circumstances.
- How many temples does the Tamil Nadu tour visit?
- The Tamil Nadu spiritual journey visits 10–15 significant temples depending on the itinerary variant chosen, including Dravidian-style gopuram temples and quieter shrines off the tourist trail. Your guide provides deep historical and spiritual context at each site.
- Is Tamil Nadu suitable for first-time India travelers?
- Yes — Tamil Nadu is considered one of the most accessible and welcoming states for international travelers. The infrastructure is well-developed, English is widely spoken, and the temples are accustomed to international pilgrims. Our guide and pre-tour briefing ensures you arrive prepared and confident.
